Wooden Doors – A Classic For Any Home

Wooden doors in Chennai were a long time homeowner’s favorite. They come in so many choices and are so inexpensive that it just doesn’t make that much sense not to choose them to meet your needs at the door.

Over the years wooden doors have lost some of their craftsmanship much like everything else. We were mostly hand-crafted by carpenters until the late 1930s when factories took throughout their production. They lost some of their touches along the way, which was added by artisans.

Hollow Core

The hollow core doors are amongst the most popular styles. These types of doors are generally used as interior doors because they are not that safe. This door is made by taking two pieces of flat sheet wood, sometimes it is not real wood but a wood product like plywood or pressboard (a mixture of glue and wood shavings), and the two large pieces are placed together with a similar material frame. One piece of wood is attached to one side, and the other side is glued with one piece of wood. This process creates a door in between the two panels which have nothing, hence the word hollow-core door.

These are very lightweight and not very stable, but where protection is not a problem, they are used for the interior.

Solid Wooden

Solid wooden doors in Chennai can be used both indoor and outdoor. Such doors can be quite costly because, unlike hollow core doors, they are wood all the way around, which are empty inside. There is a strong center for those frames. They are free, and they are very strong. Before factories started turning them out in droves, those doors were commonly used. Many of those doors can still be seen in older homes. They can still be purchased but the cost is very high.

You will find them much more detailed and painted with solid wooden doors than hollow core doors could ever have been because there is not enough wood to work on hollow core doors. You may find glass inserts and ornate carvings in these kinds of doors.

Wooden doors come with the hollow core or the solid models primarily in two choices. The solid models are completely safe and can really add a punch to your home’s front entrance. Hollow core doors are good as lightweight interior doors where you need a bit of privacy but not protection. Any model can be purchased online or from most home improvement stores.
